Managing peers

Workshop for managers

30 April 9am-4pm

Course description

Managing peers is a challenging role. Being a manager among peers, whether coming new into a group or having been one of the group and then taking on a leadership role, naturally requires a certain attitude and behavior that must be present for success to be achieved.

Being a role model as a manager is one of the most important things for a peer manager, along with being honest and trustworthy. Those who lead peers must exhibit the behavior they expect from others. A peer manager must have the respect of the group because his success depends on it. Communication skills are one of the more important foundations because issues are discussed on an equal footing and decisions are often made collectively. The manager, however, is responsible for the quality of decisions.

Peer managers face several known issues, such as directing others and dealing with sensitive issues. They also must remember to mention things that are done well.

The training covers the issues that peer managers find difficult and uncomfortable. It focuses on how best to handle these matters, delves into different managerial roles, and addresses methods that benefit peer managers and practices them.

This is a practical and lively workshop aimed at enhancing managers who manage peers or will be managing peers.
